The Butts County Sheriff's Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team consist of Four Interdiction Specialist, two Narcotic Investigators, and two Patrol and Narcotic Detection Canines.
The strategy behind the I.C.E. Team is intelligence driven; that is, taking advantage of opportunities presented during the traffic stop process to recruit sources of information. The recruitment of reliable sources is, essentially, the effective measure of the I.C.E. Team productivity. An active network of sources drives the momentum of the team, and invaluably assist in the determination of the new drug trafficking trends and patterns that substantially benefit all the Sheriff's Offices drug enforcement efforts.
The Butts County Sheriff's Office I.C.E. Team is comprised of personnel who posses enhanced skills and motivation to conduct strict enforcement of Georgia traffic laws, with a special emphasis on reducing the bulk transportations of drugs to Butts County as well as through the State of Georgia, through sources cultivation and motor vehicle criminal interdictions.
The Interstate Criminal Enforcement (I.C.E.) Team establishes a team concept to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of vehicle enforcement in the interdiction of drug traffickers, drug couriers, bulk U.S. Currency, missing or abducted children or any other type of criminal activity where Interstate 75 is used as an escape route, while aggressively performing assigned traffic enforcement duties, truck inspections and related current responsibilities.
The two Narcotic Investigators assigned to the I.C.E. Team conduct all investigations inside Butts County such as illegal narcotic sales, use, and transportation of illegal substances, gambling houses and all other types of criminal activity. The investigators are responsible for all controlled drug deliveries generated from traffic stops on the Interstate as well as County roads. They also conduct all interviews related to drugs. The investigators main focus is to target our Counties neighborhoods which have been poisoned by the sale and use of illegal narcotics. The national statistic for 2005 throughout the United States shows that 90% of all crimes are drugs or either drug related crimes.
In 2005 the six man team seized over $350,000 in U.S. Currency which was proceeds from illegal narcotic transactions. The monies seized goes back into the Sheriff's Office to purchase cars, weapons, computers, canines, etc. This in turn saves you, (the tax payer), from the cost of these needed items. Team members were also responsible for the seizure of millions of dollars worth of illegal narcotics in 2005 as well as the apprehensions of several suspects which were wanted for murder in Georgia as well as other states while using Interstate 75 as an escape route from justice.
All members of the I.C.E. Team strongly believe no person should have the right to transport illegal substances in or through Butts County by means of our county roads or on our prestine Interstate undetected, unmolested and unabated. Therefore, if you consider this trade, keep in mind that, WE WANT YOUR BUSINESS......If you would like to report any illegal activity, please call our help line at 770-775-0755.
