The Butts County Sheriff's Office has several distinctly divisions. These divisions specialize to the various areas necessary to run a robust and capable Law Enforcement Department. Our divisions work hand-in-hand with each other and other state, local, and federal agencies to accomplish the mission of Protect & Serve.
Uniform Patrol
The men assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division serve as the first responders to calls for service throughout Butts County. In answering calls for service, the Uniform Patrol Deputy's primary duty is to conduct preliminary investigations, maintain order within the community through the enforcement of state and local laws and to conduct preventive patrols while developing positive community relations. The division consists of four shifts of fourteen sworn Deputies assigned to each shift. Four Sergeants each shift with the four shifts being collectively supervised by the Uniform Patrol Lieutenant.
Investigations
The Butts County Sheriff's Office Detective Division is responsible for all detailed and technical criminal investigations not assigned to the uniform patrol division. It is comprised of four investigators and two narcotic investigators. The division is divided into specialized units. Their mission is to thoroughly investigate a wide variety of criminal cases that occur within the county. These investigations consist of interviewing witnesses, developing suspects, analyzing information for reliability and accuracy and submitting through case files for court. Our desire is to provide service to victims of criminal acts, apprehend offenders, and recover stolen property.

Oversees the Office of the Sheriff and the general public, accounting, compliance, and records management.
S.W.A.T.
In every Law Enforcement department, it is necessary to train officers to handle special investigations, narcotics raids, aviation, and other special operations that fall outside of normal police force or investigative requirments.

The Butts County Sheriff's Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team consist of four Interdiction Specialist. Two Narcotic Investigators, and two Patrol and Narcotic Detection Canines.
