Criminal Investigations
Criminal Investigations is comprised of two divisions: General Investigations and Specialized Victims Unit.
The investigations division consists of two lieutenants, a sergeant, four investigators and an administrative assistant.
Investigators are responsible for conducting preliminary and follow up investigations. It is their goal to investigate crime at the earliest stage possible, aggressively identify suspects and swiftly apprehend criminals. In the timely response to the citizens needs they are able to prevent further crime from the offender and ensure a solid case for prosecution.
Each investigator has an area of expertise and is receives various specialized training in those areas throughout the year.
Cases are distributed throughout the division according to these fields. During the investigations they interview victims, witnesses, and suspects that are pertinent and available to the case. Their responsibilities also include gathering
and securing evidence determined relevant to the case. As the case progresses, if it is determined that a crime has been committed, an arrest is made and the information is forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for Criminal Prosecution.
