In 2004, The Georgia Sheriff’s Association implemented the C.H.A.M.P.S. Program across the state. In August 2013, The Butts County Sheriff’s Office transferred from teaching the D.A.R.E. Program to teaching the C.H.A.M.P.S Program to all 5th graders in the Butts County Public School System. This program is very similar to D.A.R.E, but allows a broader spectrum to teach on, to include: drugs, bullying, water safety, hunting safety, gun safety and other topics that are beneficial to our youth that are not offered through the D.A.R.E. Program.
